Clean Algae off Tank?

I am not to sure about what to use I have a 55 gallon tank and I have this little sponge thing that I use to wipe my tank down I do have a pleco in it. The best way to control algae is to have the light on during the day and turn it off at night. I dont know if you know but plecos are nocturnal which means are more active at night. I feed mine 2 algae tablets every night when I turn out the lights. Mine is very big.
