How do i heal my dogs nose peeling?

My dog's nose seem to be peeling from the outer corners inward. It's covering the whole left half of his nose. I mentioned it to the vet the other day and I plan to again in the next couple of days after I see how it progresses, since it could possibly be a sunburn. Any ideas on how to soothe it the meantime (neosporin, aloe vera.. etc), would be greatly appreciated!
