How many sets of vaccinations does my puppy need?

He has gotten 3 sets already. He had his 3rd set yesterday and he is 14 weeks old. He is getting the rabies shot at 16 weeks old but after I got the 3rd set, my vet told me that I should come back in three weeks for the rabies shot and all the other shots (parvo, distemper, etc) Is it okay to skip that 4th set of shot? but only have the rabies shot at 16 weeks old + annually. He has gotten his 3rd set, so is it safe to bring my puppy outside and around the corner??? :D
