My blu ray DVD player won't play the DVD that I put in?

The picture and sound are both working but when I press play on the DVD player a box in the left hand corner pops up that says play DVD but then nothing happens. All I can see is the main menu screen. I have a vizio TV that is on imput hdmi4.
