Does this sound like Herpes ?

The normal coldsore thing or the sti one ? My toungue is sore, corner of my mouth red and sore, tiny cut just above the corner just inside my mouth, roof of mouth sore. I had a cut in the corner of my mouth a few months ago and the docotor said it was a 'viral infection' and will clear up on its own. Then I had canker sores aparently due to stress. I'm with my boyfriend who has coldsores and he's going for a herpes test just to make sure. Should I go for one? We always make sure we don't kiss when he has a outbreak but they've breaking out alot recently because of stress too.
